That's it sports fans, you've finally made it. You have survived the final crappy sports weekend before the glorious return of football. Give yourself a pat on the back, you deserve it.
August can the cruelest month for sports fans. Football is so agonizingly close, yet so far away. To get to the football season, you have to endure an entire month purley on regular season baseball and NFL player arrests. Seriously, look at some of the viewing options from this past weekend; WNBA Playoffs, IRL, Nascar, Major League Lacrosse and something called the World Stacking Championships. Yikes. The best option for sports over the weekend was the Little League World Series, which is cool and all, but I gave it much more attention when I was 12.
But the long wait is over now. Pretty much every weekend is covered through February thanks to football and college basketball, and that February pause is only a minor speed bump to the glory of March Madness. The days of trying to choose between the MLS and Pro Volleyball are behind you.
So sit back and relax sports fans, no need to leave the couch for the next seven or eight months.
