Scott Proctor is officially going to be my scapegoat for the the growing disaster that is the 2007 New York Yankees season. The combination of his surly attitude and tendency to allow at least one home run every other game just makes me absolutely cringe everytime Torre brings him into the game (which happens to be every single freaking game).
Apparently, even Scott has had enough of his shitty play. Following a week in which he walked in the winning run in Baltimore and followed that gem up with a three run seventh inning on Saturday against Oakland, Proctor decided to light all of his baseball belongings on fire. He said he burned everything expect for his uniform in a bonfire outside the Yankee dugout after Saturday's game
“I did it before in Triple-A when things were going bad, just to change it up,” Proctor said after the impromptu barbecue. “Nothing to it. I feel great right now. If I throw up about eight zeroes in a row right now, it’ll make me feel even better.”
Honestly, I understand Proctor's motives. There are plenty of times that I've written a terrible post and decided to set my laptop ablaze. Maybe Proctor's bonfire is able to bring him back to his average middle reliever self. If not, I'll be in one in charge of the angry mob of Yankee fans that tries to light Proctor on fire.
