Golden State of Mind Indeed

God, it must feel great to be a Warriors fan this morning
. 13 years of frustrations must have made last night's series clinching win over the Mavericks feel about 1000 sweeter. I said it before, but I'm certain of it now; this was the most entertaining NBA Playoff series I have ever seen and the Warriors are the most entertaining team in a long, long time. Here are just a few of my final thoughts on the Warriors- Mavs series.

  • This wasn't the greatest upset of all-time - The 1-8 aspect is impressive, but Golden State was the better team. The Warriors realistically could have won all six games in the series. An upset is defined by the better team losing a game they were expected to win. Think UConn-George Mason: Do you think Mason would have won another game against UConn in a 7 game series? This was an upset, just not the greatest of all-time
  • Golden State's crowd deserves a standing O - The crowd was amazing. I'm pretty sure that no one sat down the entire game. There was no way they were going to let the Warriors lose that game. The game and crowd really had a college feel to it, which is a great change up from the "this is basically just like going to the movies" crowd at NBA arenas in recent years.
  • Baron Davis - His beard provided enough magic for Baron to return from a hamstring pull (I thought that only happens to Yankee starting pitchers?) to become this generation's Willis Reed.
  • Dirk: 2-13, 8 points - Have fun getting that MVP Trophy in the Dallas media room next week
  • As a college basketball guy, I didn't think I would ever see the day that there would be a better upset in the NBA Playoffs than the NCAA Tournament, but it happened this year. Think about that.....
