JCMJ Terrible Jersey Inductee

Lavar Arrington Redskins Jersey
Owner: Jamie Mottram a.k.a. Mr. Irrelevant
Year It Was Purchased : 2005 (Christmas gift)
Age When Purchased: 28
Jersey Category: Never Lived Up To The Hype Jersey
Why Is It Terrible? : For my first 26 years of Redskins fandom I owned two jerseys; Art Monk and Darrell Green. After Green retired though, it was decided in a tailgate or someplace of that ilk that I'd need the jersey of an active player. Since my brothers already had Clinton Portis and Brad Johnson (now THAT is a terrible jersey) taken care of, I turned to Fred Smoot. Standing opposite Champ Bailey and lighting up the local airwaves, I loved Smoot ... until he signed with Minnesota just months after the purchase. So in '05 a new jersey was in order. By then my youngest brother had replaced his Johnson with a Sean Taylor, so the only real choices were Santana Moss, Chris Cooley, Jon Jansen or LaVar Arrington. Of course I chose the one guy who immediately left the team that offseason, to a division rival no less. I think I wore that wretched Arrington rag for all of two games before taking up residence in my closet, where it hangs in shame, just waiting for Goodwill to come calling. Got a terrible jersey? Man, there should be, like, a 'cooling off' period for jersey buying or something...
I agree 100%. I grew up a Redskins fan and went to Penn State - so, naturally, it made sense to combine my love of the skins and PSU in a single jersey. It sits in my closet, barely worn, gatehring dust. Now, he plays in the damn Giants and I can no longer wear the jersey. A complete disaster.
I think the Lavar Arrington Redskins jersey would be great to own. While he was on the Redskins he went to like 3 or 4 pro-bowls, and he was one of the most intense guys on the field. Regardless he did absolutely nothing for the Giants, you have to go back and grab the better times of his career. I could care less if I wore a Redskins jersey and he's on the Giants because he still is a high quality player.
i think it's a little unfair arrington was pro bowl his first 3 years at the skins and then got screwed by injuries, remember that Arrington waws the second selection in the 2000 draft after Courtney Brown now there's a real "never lived up to the hype selection"
