Terrible Jersey Hall of Fame: Harold Miner

JCMJ Terrible Jersey Hall of Fame Inductee

Harold "Baby Jordan" Miner - Miami Heat

Nominated by: Marco of Just Call Me Juice

Year the Jersey Was Purchased: 1993

Age When Purchased: 9

Jersey Category: Never Lived Up to the Hype Jersey

Why Is It Terrible?: As as young kid growing up a Miami Heat fan, I envied friends who had a superstar like Michael Jordan or Charles Barkley to look up to. The best I could do was root for Ronny Seikaly. Not fun for a 9-year-old. So you can understand how excited I was when Harold "Baby Jordan" Miner won the 1993 Slam Dunk Contest. I swear to God I begged my parents to get me Harold Miner jersey as soon as the dunk contest was over. Finally, the Heat had a superstar like Michael Jordan. Better yet, he was a younger version of Mike. Or so I thought. A bald head and a dunk contest championship were about the only things that Jordan and Miner would ever have in common. Miner's skills never developed outside of Dunk Contests (he won again in 1995) and I was left with my first of many terrible jerseys.
