It's a sad day here at JCMJ as we wrap up another college basketball season. Bad coaching hires will have to get us through the offseason. While this year's tournament may not have been the worst I can remember (that would be 2000), it was far from the best (2005) as Bill Simmons would have you believe. I'll give this year's tournament a 5.5 out of 10. The good from March Madness 2007; most NBA caliber players in the tournament (Oden, Noah, Horford, Durant....) since the mid-90s and high quality match-ups in the later rounds. The bad from March Madness 2007; lack of upsets, no real Cinderella, no buzzer beaters and few memorable games. To put our final stamp on college basketball 2007, here is a recap of the 2007 tournament
BEST GAME: Ohio State- Xavier
MOST MEMORABLE GAME: Georgetown-North Carolina
BEST DAY OF GAMES: Saturday Afternoon, Opening Round
WORST DAY OF GAMES: Friday Night, Opening Round
BEST PLAYER: Corey Brewer, Florida
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Greg Oden, Ohio State
BEST UPSET: VCU over Duke
BEST NEAR UPSET: Butler - Florida, Southern Illinois-Kansas
CINDERELLA TEAM: UNLV
BEST GAME NO ONE SAW: Oregon-Miami (OH)
BRACKET BUSTING TEAM: Texas
TEAM THAT MADE ME LOOK SMART: UNLV
TEAM THAT MADE ME LOOK DUMB: Ohio State

For buzzer beaters how about the Ron Lewis 3 to tie the Xavier game?
1981 was good with defending Louisville getting beat on a US Reed Hail Mary. #1 ranked DePaul, with Mark Aguirre and Terry Cummings getting knocked out on a layup at the buzzer by St. Joes.
Both happened withing minutes.
(Still remember a young Dei Lynam hugging dad Joe.)
that wsu/vandy game was damn good too. don't know if too many people saw it. (coincedentally, i think it was rival VCU's near upset over Pitt, which i saw little of).
