In the spirit of our favorite plus size player Anthony Ivory, JCMJ now has a favorite coach, who unfortunately retired following last night's game. The coach is Dick Davey of Santa Clara, whose Broncos lost in the WCC final to Gonzaga. Why the love for a retiring coach in Davey? The love began the moment I turned on the tv and saw him rocking the greatest argyle sweater (above pic, left) seen on television since The Cosby Show. At first, I thought the sweater was being worn in a 'Screw it, this my last game, I don't give a shit what the AD says" manner, but some research found that Davey has been known throughout the WCC for wearing argyles his entire career. How did I miss this? Davey's sweaters are no longer a secret just to fans of the WCC, thanks to ESPN, but we only wish we would have know about the sweater before his final game....

Dick Davey was one of the few good guys, but unfortunately now everyone wants to be Gonzaga or George Mason so good no longer cuts it.
In high school I got to know about him because his son is our high school basketball coach, so thank you Marco for the tip of the hat (but not the wag of the finger) to Dick Davey and his pimp ass sweaters. He will be missed at SCU.

I think Dick Davey is one of the very few classy people that have been involved in college athletics. He will be greatly missed.
