OJ and JCMJ Ride Off Into The Sunset Together

Just when I thought I was out, OJ pulls me back. Seriously, what a way for this blog to go. Apparently, OJ is more arrogant and stupid than I thought. The Juice is heading to the cooler after being arrested on armed robbery charges in Vegas. OJ thought that just because something used to belong to him, he can then use firearms and hitmen to get them back. Like no one was going to mention that they were robbed by OJ fucking Simpson. But in a way, this all makes sense. Now this blog and OJ will go off in the sunset together. Maybe the Juice heard this blog was calling it quits and just decided he couldn't live in a world without JCMJ. That, or he wanted to head back to summer camp.

Farewell, Sweet Blog

From Terrible Jerseys, Aggro-Crags, fat basketball players, Rock, Paper, Scissors championships, catching Agent Zero's shoes, and tournaments brackets against a penny, JCMJ has covered some crazy stuff over the past year. While it has been a blast working on JCMJ, I feel that it now the perfect time to move onto a brand new blog. Therefore, this is going to be the last post on Just Call Me Juice. While JCMJ will be ending, it's only the beginning of this guy's sports blogging career.

Starting Monday, I will be starting a brand new blog called
Storm the Court, exclusively covering college basketball (all the details will be shelled out here next week). College hoops is my passion and most of my readers will agree that JCMJ was at it's best during college basketball season. With that in mind, I figured I could do my best work focusing solely on college hoops. For those of you who enjoyed the style of JCMJ, have no fear. Expect Storm the Court to have the same kind of style, only with more college hoops and less of everything else. Again, all of the details about the new blog will be brought up Monday (Update: some work related stuff is pushing back the first day....this week I promise!!). Until then, keep your eyes peeled for some terrible jerseys. I may still have one last JCMJ post left in me

(Update 9/10: New blog will be up this week!)

Happy Birthday to JCMJ

It is a special day here at Just Call Me Juice, as today marks the one year anniversary of the blog. Still can't believe that I've made it a full year, considering I really just started this blog on a whim one day after I was pissed at work. But here we are, a full year, and it has been 1000 times better than I could have expected. Not only has it been rewarding, but I've made some great friends in the process. There are going to be some BIG changes around here (check in Tuesday), but I'll leave that for later. For now, it's birthday time.

Spanning the Blog: OJ's Search For The Real Charlie

Spanning the Blog, a weekly look at what some other bloggers are talking about.....

Great post by Gheorghe. Narrowing down the list of Charlies that could be the real killer according to OJ. (Gheorghe:The Blog)

You know what, I think that blog is going to do pretty well (The Big Picture)

A Facebook group dedicated to meeting Brady Quinn. Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and not join that group (Brahsome)

In terms of horrible reality show ideas, this might be tops (Ladies...)

JCMJ Super Awesome College Football Preview: UCLA

In preparation for the upcoming college football season, JCMJ will spend this week previewing the top games, teams, players, and potential upsets for the upcoming season. It really is a super awesome preview, in my opinion at least.

TEAM PREVIEW: UCLA by Larry of Larry Brown Sports

When did your love affair with UCLA begin? Both my parents went there, so I was more or less raised in a UCLA environment, and started following collegiate athletics when I was five.

Player you are most excited for this season?
Sophomore RB Ryen Carew. He's a personal friend who struggled through a knee injury last year. He didn't arrive with much hype, but I believe he's the fastest of the bunch, and has a chance to be the best. Bruce Davis is also really fun to watch -- dude's a beast on the d-line.

Player that makes you want to punch the television?
Well, no player makes me want to punch the TV as much as Karl Dorrell does. He's so conservative and predictable offensively, it drives me nuts. I've seen more creativity in a Marty Schottenheimer playoff playbook.

Game you are most excited for?
I'm really excited for the Notre Dame game. I'd like UCLA to mop up on the unfinished business from last year (see answer above). Plus, the only thing I enjoy more than a USC loss is a Notre Dame defeat.

Game the scares the hell out of you?
USC at the Coliseum, for obvious reasons.

Best case scenario for UCLA?
10-2 (I'm a realist)

Worst case scenario for UCLA?
8-4. I'm guessing we're going to go 9-3 this year.

It's Finally Here

It's finally here; the start of the college football season. It's all kicks off tonight with LSU at Mississippi State and will conclude with everyone bitching about who gets to play in the BCS championship. Still, I love college football. Much, much more than the NFL. One man who is more excited than you or I about the opening kickoff? Rece Davis, who has been on air for 25 straight hours. That's going to be a well deserved nap.

There Goes Kyle Wright's Career

Looks like Miami's QB competition has finally come to an end. Coach Shannon has announced that Kirby Freeman will be the Canes starting QB to start the season against Marshall. Freeman beat out last year's starter Kyle Wright for the job, basically adding the final touches to the underachieving/disappointing career of Kyle Wright. Wright was said to be injured throughout camp, basically giving Shannon the excuse he needed to bench the once phenom. While Freeman was prone to some dumb mistakes last season, I'm in favor of the move. I mean at least Freeman brought some imagination to the offense. My opinion can do a 180 if Freeman throws three picks vs Marshall on Saturday.

Another somewhat funny Miami note: According to AA, Larry Coker (yes Miami's former head coach) will be in the booth for ESPN for Miami's opener against Marshall. Seriously, who at ESPN scheduled that? You are telling me that they couldn't have stuck him at any of the other 65 games ESPN will broadcast this weekend? That is going to be a terribly awkward first day in the booth for Coker, especially when Miami comes out and plays with more passion and discipline.
